We removed the cable from vehicle ECU programming, so each car is programmed wirelessly as it moves down the line.
Programming a vehicle's ECUs normally means connecting a cable to every car. Ti2 modernised the production line so ECUs are programmed wirelessly as part of the line itself, with no cable to connect and disconnect at the station.
- Challenge
- Programming a vehicle's ECUs normally means connecting a cable to every car, waiting for the download and disconnecting it again, which adds handling and ties up a station on a moving line.
- Solution
- Ti2 modernised the production line so ECUs are programmed wirelessly as part of the line itself. Each vehicle is identified by barcode, and wireless programming units managed from a central control PC program its ECUs, with no cable to connect or disconnect at the station.
- Result
- Vehicle ECUs are programmed wirelessly on the line itself, with no cable to connect or disconnect at the station.
Overview
Ti2 helped a major Australian auto manufacturer modernise its production line to support wireless programming of vehicle ECUs (SWDL / OSCAR / UCATS), using our automotive diagnostics experience with Softing tools.
